What impact does industrial espionage have on companies and individuals?
Whole books are written just to answer this question.
Specifically, industrial espionage is theft. When something is stolen it reduces a company's profitability. A company which is not profitable, does not grow. In fact, it may have to shrink just to survive. This means individuals loose their jobs. In some extreme cases, companies have gone out of business entirely and every individual in the company lost their job.
The first major example of this in the United States involved the textile industry. In this case, the "rug was pulled out from under" the textile cartel in England.
Imagine... Whole books, just to make that point!
